What I am

I have to live with myself and so
I want to be fit for myself to know,
I want to be able as days go by,
To look at myself straight in the eye.
I don't want to stand with the setting sun
And hate myself for the things I've done.

I don't want to hide on a closet shelf
A lot of secrets about myself,
And fool myself as I come and go
Into thinking that nobody else will know
What kind of person I really am;
I don't want to dress myself in sham.

I want to go with my head erect,

I want to deserve all women's respect
And in this struggle for fame and pelf
I want to be able to like myself.
I don't want to look at myself and know
That I am a bluster and empty show.

I cannot hide myself from me;

I can see what others can never see;
I know what others can never know,
I cannot fool myself, and so

Whatever happens, I want to be

Self-respecting and conscience free.

English Shayari

Staring at the moon at night, so bright,
An emotion came over me last night?
Bringing all of my thoughts to you,
I thought our love is growing true..

When I closed my eyes yester night,
All my sorrows & worries took flight?
Endless thoughts ran through my head,
& the talks we had while lying on bed..

Without U life wud mean nothing 2 me,
Oh forever with you, I want to be?
Words can't explain how much I love you,
You bring me smiles, overcome my blue..

Thinking of U constantly makes me smile,
I can't forget U, oh not for even a while?
You've no idea what I've recieved from you,
The only person I want2 spend my life is wid U..

I love you Sweetie, with all my heart,
I know never in our lives we'll be apart?

The lake

In spring of youth it was my lot
To haunt of the wide world a spot
The which I could not love the less--
So lovely was the loneliness,
Of a wild lake, with black rock bound
And the tall pines that towered around.

But when the Night had thrown her pall
Upon that spot, as upon all,
And the mystic wind went by
Murmuring in melody--
Then- ah then I would awake
To the terror of the lone lake.

Yet, that terror was not fright
But a tremulous delight--
A feeling not the jewelled mine
Could teach or bribe me to define--
Nor Love- although the Love were thine.

Death was in that poisonous wave
And in its gulf a fitting grave
For him who thence could solace bring
To his lone imagining--
Whose solitary soul could make
An Eden of that dim lake.

Take A Chance

A chance encounter of the best kind -

A meeting arranged by fate -

Two souls have come together

Two hearts can now relate.

Exploring has uncovered

A tender love sublime,

Whose roots are strong and deep,

To withstand the test of time.

This much, I know within my heart,

That you are meant for me;

To share with me the joys of life;

Throughout eternity.

So now, I ask with an open heart

Barring my soul to thee;

Will you, dear <NAME...>, my soulmate

Take a chance and marry me?

Your picture

Your picture which I have in hand,

By itself could never stand;

For in dimensions, it does lack

The third and foremost of the pack.

It will not kiss me on command;

It cannot love me on demand;

And warmth, it never can imbue

To this poor soul who yearns for you.

Torture me no more, my sweet;

Pictures can't such passions treat;

And if they burn as mine do now,

They need to be relieved somehow.

Thus, to this truth, I do adhere,

That only you, my Doctor dear,

In three dimensions, can you clear

This burning which is so severe.

So fly to me - do not delay;

I cannot wait another day;

And free me from the torments of

This raging three-dimensioned love.

She walks in Beauty

She walks in Beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which Heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!

Once in every lifetime

Once in every lifetime, someone comes along,
The one special heart
You've been waiting for your whole life long.

Once in every lifetime, God sends an angel from above,
To make your life complete
Who you can give your endless love.

When a love like this comes, make any sacrifice,
For the best things in life
Seldom come along twice.

There is no love that compares to yours and mine,
A love from heaven that only comes
"Once In Every Lifetime."

That's my last Duchess

That's my last Duchess painted on the wall,
Looking as if she were alive. I call
That piece a wonder, now: Fr Pandolf's hands
Worked busily a day, and there she stands.
Will't please you sit and look at her? I said
"Fr Pandolf'' by design, for never read
Strangers like you that pictured countenance,
The depth and passion of its earnest glance,
But to myself they turned (since none puts by
The curtain I have drawn for you, but I)
And seemed as they would ask me, if they durst,
How such a glance came there; so, not the first
Are you to turn and ask thus. Sir, 'twas not
Her husband's presence only, called that spot
Of joy into the Duchess' cheek: perhaps
Fr Pandolf chanced to say "Her mantle laps
"Over my lady's wrist too much,'' or "Paint
"Must never hope to reproduce the faint
"Half-flush that dies along her throat:'' such stuff
Was courtesy, she thought, and cause enough
For calling up that spot of joy.

I am not yours

I am not yours, not lost in you,
Not lost, although I long to be
Lost as a candle lit at noon,
Lost as a snowflake in the sea.

You love me, and I find you still
A spirit beautiful and bright,
Yet I am I, who long to be
Lost as a light is lost in light.

Oh plunge me deep in love - put out
My senses, leave me deaf and blind,
Swept by the tempest of your love,
A taper in a rushing wind.

I Promise You

I promise you my love
I promise you my heart
I promise you my life
I promise we'll never be apart

I promise not to hurt you
I promise to never make you cry
I promise to always trust you
I promise not to lie

I promise you forever
I promise you tonight
I promise you my respect
I promise to do things right

I promise to always be there
I promise until the end
I promise to always love you
I promise to be your best friend

I promise you my love
I promise you my life
I promise this forever
I promise our LOVE is my life

My Love...

I'd like to speak just how I feel.
I'd say it in front of you..
but my words just ran away
If you could understand
how much I care, I think I'd be ok

I haven't felt quite like this,
this feeling for so long.
How in my life, I must have missed,
what feels right, not even closed to being wrong

If you understand what you bring
in me, so much I feel alive.
All doubt diminishes from my face,
your love, I need in my place.

I'm not trying to flatter you,
as some may think.
I have no cause to play any kind of game.
My feelings are true and from the heart,
if we don't ever make it, I hold myself to blame....

For my mind and heart is open to you,
Diane my darling, my dear,
I love you very much....
I'll always want you near

Will you marry me?

I was sitting at my desk
Pondering what to say
"Lord, please give me inspiration!"
Earnestly I prayed

With a pad in the left hand
And a pen in the right
I was a man on a mission
Needing a poem for tonight

They say roses a red
And violets they are blue
No--that's a pansy beginning
And that will never do

The sun shining bright in the day
The moon glowing in the night
No--that won't work either
It just doesn't sound right

You can see my dilemma
A poem to construct
Feeling broken and defeated
I wanted to give up

Then it came to me
In a vision like a dream
A picture of the woman
God has prepared specially for me

I chuckled to myself
How could I've not seen
With five simple words
This poem is complete

(name), will you marry me?

Valentine Song

More often than not
Words can't describe
My feelings for you
Which live deep inside

Feelings that grow stronger
With every beat of my heart
I knew you were the one for me
Right from the very start

There isn't a moment
In the day I can find
Where you face and smile
Don't appear in my mind

I long to be with you
And hold you so tight
To protect you and love you
Everyday and each night

We share something so special
Each and every day
A feeling in our souls
Words alone can't say

When We Two Parted

When we two parted
In silence and tears,
Half broken-hearted
To sever for years,
Pale grew thy cheek and cold,
Colder thy kiss;
Truly that hour foretold
Sorrow to this.

The dew of the morning
Sunk chill on my brow--
It felt like the warning
Of what I feel now.
Thy vows are all broken,
And light is thy fame;
I hear thy name spoken,
And share in its shame.

They name thee before me,
A knell to mine ear;
A shrudder comes o'er me--
Why wert thou so dear?
They know not I knew thee,
Who knew thee so well--
Long, long I shall rue thee,
Too deeply to tell.

In secret we met--
In silence I grieve,
That thy heart could forget,
Thy spirit deceive
If I should meet thee
After long years,
How should I greet thee?--
With silence and tears.

Madonna of the Evening Flowers

ALL day long I have been working
Now I am tired.
I call: "Where are you?"
But there is only the oak tree rustling in the wind.
The house is very quiet,
The sun shines in on your books,
On your scissors and thimble just put down,
But you are not there.
Suddenly I am lonely:
Where are you?
I go about searching.

Then I see you,
Standing under a spire of pale blue larkspur,
With a basket of roses on your arm.
You are cool, like silver,
And you smile.
I think the Canterbury bells are playing little tunes,
You tell me that the peonies need spraying,
That the columbines have overrun all bounds,
That the pyrus japonica should be cut back and rounded.
You tell me these things.
But I look at you, heart of silver,
White heart-flame of polished silver,
Burning beneath the blue steeples of the larkspur,
And I long to kneel instantly at your feet,
While all about us peal the loud, sweet Te Deums of the Canterbury bells.

Jenny Kissed Me

I lose myself
in your beautiful eyes
I cant pull away
even if I wanted to try
Your perfect
in every way
The thought of you
just makes my day
You came to me
from the heavens above
You flew in on wings
my angel of love
When nothing seems
to go quite right
and I no longer
can see the light
I look upon
your angelic face
and I'm taken away
to a far better place
I cherish
every word you've said
You move me
like the music I play in my head
In this world of false truths
I know only one thing true
I'd give up everything
just to be with you.

Break Up

A state of limbo
The calm before the storm
Eyes dry still
Expecting the worst
The forever leaping heart
The battle of wills
No looking back?..
Nostalgia- what?s that?
Just boredom that kills
The endless waiting
The relief of a goodbye
Regrets??

First Day At School

First Day At School
In a little village in Kerala
I awoke with a lot of hungama
I heard the rain like crumpling bits of paper
And I knew the dreaded day had finally arrived
Here the rain and the school arrives side by side
Causing waves of sadness to hit me as on seaside
The grass and the leaves are fresher than ever
But my mother drags me into the shower
I yearn to smell my new rose blushing in the rain
But the new uniform assails my nose putting my wish in vain
My shivering puppy longs for the warmth of my hand
But the umbrella and now-filled bag lands in my hands
Blurry vision of the world that I view
And my little garden with everything so fresh and new
Causes tears to rush down my cheeks
Which are washed away by the rain so gentle or may be meek
I enter my new world, my second home, world of letters all sad and confused
And my mom pulls my hand off hers with emotions diffused
I cry, ?Oh Mama don?t leave me here!Take me with u..?
But she leaves without turning back ,tears fresh and new?
